It’s the Christmas season again! This is the time of year when there is a chill in the air, its mostly gray outside, you hear Christmas music in abundance, you decorate your house/apartment for the holidays and you think of ways you can help others. I don’t know about you, but every time I hear Mannheim Steamroller’s “Deck the Halls” I automatically feel like I should be baking some cookies. (Thank you Pavlov). I think it was playing every time we made Christmas cookies growing up. So I did! I love this time of year. Brett and I did not waste any time being festive this year–we decorated as soon as we came home from Pajaro Dunes for Thanksgiving. Mannheim Steamroller’s “Deck the Halls” was playing (aaaahhh!!!! where are the cookies????) and we had so much fun figuring out where to put our decorations in our tiny apartment. We bought a small Christmas tree this year and it fits perfectly!
Brett and I have been busy little bees making lots of Christmas gifts this year. I can’t wait to give them out!!! We are going to St. Louis for Christmas this year (first time since I got married 3 years ago! I’m excited!) and to Kansas City for New Year’s. I can’t wait to see family! We already had our ward Christmas party at church and I decorated a table. Here was my centerpiece design:
We have had a great holiday season so far and we look forward to seeing family in just a couple weeks. Merry Christmas everyone!
Brett and I have much to be thankful for. We were both very contemplative this past Thanksgiving weekend about all the things we are thankful for. The list is too long to put in here, but mostly we are deeply grateful for our family, friends and loved ones and the support they have given us throughout our lives. Brett and I had the pleasure of spending Thanksgiving weekend at Pajaro Dunes, a beach vacation spot near Watsonville, California. Grandma and Grandpa Rosenlof invited us down for a wonderful weekend. Brett has fond memories of Pajaro Dunes since it was frequented as a family get-together destination throughout his growing up years in California. He loved the chance to go back, and of course I did too.
The condo we were in was really fun. They were using a chest as their coffee table so of course Brett and I had to see if we would fit in it.
ready for the challenge!
almost total closure!
We spent Thanksgiving day walking on the beach and making dinner.

It was a great Thanksgiving day. The next day, we drove down to the Point Lobos State Reserve in Carmel. We hiked a trail next to the ocean and looked for dolphins, sea otters or sea lions.
It was really beautiful! We had such a great time. We went shopping the next day and saw the 7th Harry Potter movie in Santa Cruz. Before we knew it, our time was up! We were too busy enjoying our time at Pajaro with Grandma and Grandpa that the time just flew by. We drove home Sunday morning thankful for the wonderful Thanksgiving we had and that we were able to spend it with family.
