Brett and I just got back from a wonderful trip to New York. Brett’s sister, Jamie and her family just moved to Newark about 2 months ago and were nice enough to let us stay with them as we explored New York. We did a lot of fun things in only 3 days of being in the city of New York. I’ll separate the things we did by days so it makes more sense.
We rode a bus into Times Square and checked out a few key spots like M&M world! M&M’s just happens to be my favorite candy so it was very fun see the wall of M&M colors!
- See how excited I am to be surrounded by my favorite candy?
We also saw the Hershey’s building where Brett was happy to see the biggest bottle of Hershey’s Syrup he had ever seen.

We got on the Subway, which was kind of confusing at first, but it was totally awesome to ride underground and quickly get where you needed to be. We got off at the stop where the Manhattan Temple was. It was fun to see a building with a golden Moroni on top of it and know that the church is still true, even in Manhattan. It was very quiet inside the temple and it seemed like a wonderful and peaceful place to be, especially as a way to get away from the busy bustle of New York.

After that, we went to the Museum of Natural History, which is where Night at the Museum was filmed. We had a great time seeing the exhibits, especially the dinosaurs!
Next, we met up with Jamie and Lincoln and walked around the beautiful Central Park.
Then, we walked down 5th Avenue and saw some awesome shopping opportunities, but we didn’t shop at this point in our trip. We did go into F.A.O. Schwartz and played on the piano, though.
Next, we walked to the Rockefeller Center and saw all the flags and went inside the headquarters of NBC.
After that, we rode the Subway down to East Village and got some food at a place called BAMN!. BAMN! is a place where all the food is in vending machines, but they serve hot foods like burgers and corn dogs. They replace the food every 15 minutes to make sure it is fresh. They even have vegetarian and dessert options. It was a fun place to go and eat some dinner before our show.

After that fun, we went back to Times Square and saw Mary Poppins. We loved the show! Especially the “Step in Time” number. We recommend seeing it!
On this day, Brett and I went down to Little Italy and Chinatown. We had some lunch at a little Italian place and then shopped through Chinatown. I got a purse and a wrap, but Brett didn’t get anything. We also spent some time checking out boutiques and other stores in SoHo.

After our shopping, we went to the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a beautiful sight! We were able to see the Statue of Liberty and the beautiful skyline of New York.

Lincoln had fun looking at the screws that held the wooden planks together and dancing very cutely.
After the Brooklyn Bridge, we headed over to the Amex building to meet Ryan Giles for dinner. On the way, we saw Ground Zero and fought the Rush Hour crowd of people and not cars. It was an interesting experience. After dinner, we got some delicious cheesecake at Junior’s and then headed home to eat it while we watched the Olympics.

We explored the Upper West End of New York on Thursday. This is where Jamie, Ryan and Lincoln lived last summer when Ryan was doing his internship in New York. It was a really nice part of New York and we were glad to be there. We went to Columbia University’s campus and looked at all the beautiful buildings. We also went to the restaurant that was in Seinfeld and got a picture there. I love Seinfeld so it was awesome to see the restaurant featured in the show.
That evening, Brett and I saw Spamalot and thoughrouly enjoyed it. We walked around New York at night and enjoyed the last night we had there.
New York at night, how beautiful!
We had a wonderful time in New York on our little summer vacation and we are so happy that we were able to spend time with Jamie, Ryan and Lincoln. We miss them and love them!
